Ashley Hammock founded Oceania Hamiltonstovare in hopes of advancing the breed in America with healthy dogs that met the Swedish breed standard and still had the instinct to hunt all day.
Ashley Hammock has been involved in the sport of dogs in 1998. She started with Beagles, assisting various people in North Carolina. In 2001, she started showing as a Junior Handler with Nuttree Great Danes. When she aged out of Juniors, she tried her hand at showing semi-professionally with Clumber Spaniels. During that time, she discovered the beautiful Hamiltonstovare. She then began contacting various breeders around the world to learn more about the breed.
Finally in 2010, Ashley obtained her first Hamiltonstovare from the acclaimed Kilcavan line. Then in 2012, her first stud dog arrived, also from the Kilcavan line. Since 2010 Ashley has worked tirelessly in establishing the national parent club for the Hamiltonstovare in America. She has been one of the main pioneers to advance the breed in America by submitting the proposal for the breed to enter AKC FSS status. Ashley also was the first to exhibit a Hamiltonstovare in the show ring. Since 2010 Ashley and her Hamiltonstovare have earned multiple Best in Shows, multiple Reserve Best in Shows, multiple Total Dog awards and countless Group wins.
